Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury receives 'Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Gold Medal 2012'

 

Prof. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor received Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Gold Medal 2012 on August 24, 2013 for his outstanding contributions in the fields of education, engineering and research. The award ceremony was held at Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM). Since 1986, DAM has awarded 21 personalities with the gold medal named after Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah, a noted social reformer of the sub-continent, says a press release

DAM President Kazi Rafiqul Alam, Birdem Ombudsman Prof Wahid Uddin Ahmed, and Ahsanullah University Vice Chancellor AMM Shafiullah attended the ceremony.

Speakers observed at a function in the city on Saturday said nation is honored if worthy citizens are respected. Respected people get truly encouraged upon being given recognition of their works, they noted. The chief guest of the programme, Prof Dr Wahid Uddin Ahmed, Ombudsman of BIRDEM (Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders) formally handed over the gold medal to Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury.

The speakers noted Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah was a prominent educationist in the sub-continent who had contribution to the establishment of the University of Dhaka and he made the people educated through modern knowledge. DAM president Kazi Rafiqul Alam presided over the function while Professor (retd) of the Philosophy Department of Dhaka University Dr Aminur Islam read out the keynote paper. Former Secretary and ex-Chairman of the National Board of Revenue, Dr Md Abdul Majid and Vice-chancellor of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) Dr A M M Shafiullah were present as discussants. Executive Director of DAM Dr M Ehsanur Rahman delivered welcome address.
